Freedom of Information Requests

The website has been set up by Transport Scotland in response to over 30 Freedom of Information requests since the closure of the Forth Road Bridge on 4 December 2015. Following Phase 1 repairs the Forth Road Bridge reopened to vehicles not exceeding 7.5 tonnes in weight and buses on 23 December 2015, and following Phase 2 Repairs to all vehicles up to 44 tonnes, and escorted abnormal loads up to 150 tonnes on 20 February 2016.

The Forth Road Bridge has been in operation since 1964. Up until 2001 the Forth Road Bridge was managed by the Forth Road Bridge Joint Board (FRBJB). From 2001 it was operated and maintained by the Forth Estuary Transport Authority (FETA), a group comprising members of the Local Authorities of City of Edinburgh, Fife, Perth & Kinross and West Lothian. On 1st June 2015, the  Forth Road Bridge became part of the Trunk road network (Forth Bridges Unit) and the operation and maintenance passed to the Forth Bridges Operating Company (FBOC).
